Write for us

We welcome proposals that help readers understand how news is made, presented and circulated. Send a concise pitch through the Contact page rather than a finished article.

What we welcome

Ideas may examine attribution, headline choices, news formats, newsroom practices, visual framing or the history of a familiar reporting convention. Keep the subject focused on news literacy and give readers a clear reason to care about the detail.

A useful pitch

Tell us the central question, the specific angle and what a reader should understand after reading. Include the proposed scope, the kind of source material the piece would rely on and any relevant experience or connection to the subject. Do not send confidential or private material.

What to leave out

We are less suited to broad opinion pieces, promotional copy, unsupported claims about media motives or pitches that depend on access you do not have. A strong proposal makes its limits clear and does not promise a conclusion before examining the evidence.

How to submit

Send your proposal through the Contact page and choose the editorial question option. A pitch is not a commission; wait for a response before drafting a full piece.
